Sports medicine

Sports Medicine is a medical specialty whose mission is to protect the health of the athlete, promoting prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and contributing to an optimization of sports performance.

In fact, the training and level of competition that amateur and professional athletes are subjected to today are not compatible with unskilled medical support and the whole practice of Sports Medicine requires a multidisciplinary involvement.

The Doctor of Sports Medicine has specific and adequate training to be the central element in the provision of the health care of the athlete, and must always work in close collaboration with other medical or surgical specialties of support and reference.
